The Ministry of Youth and Sports, in collaboration with various stakeholders, proudly launched the Pre-International Youth Day 2023 celebrations today (08/08/23) in Labasa, Northern Division. The event, held under the theme "Green Skills for Youth towards a Sustainable World," aims to empower young individuals and equip them with the necessary skills to contribute to a sustainable future.
The Honorable Minister of Youth and Sports Honorable Jese Saukuru, presided over the opening ceremony, signifying the government's commitment to promoting and supporting the youth in their journey towards personal and professional development. The ceremony took place concurrently with the Ministry of Youth and Sports Career Fair, providing attendees with a unique opportunity to explore a wide range of career options while emphasizing the importance of sustainable practices.
In his opening address, the Minister emphasized the significance of the Pre-International Youth Day celebration and its alignment with the United Nations' Sustainable Development Goals. He stressed the need for young people to acquire green skills that will enable them to actively participate in creating a sustainable future. The Minister further highlighted various initiatives undertaken by the government to support youth empowerment and education, emphasizing the role of the Ministry of Youth and Sports in fostering an environment conducive to the growth and success of young individuals.
