NEW ZEALAND DELEGATION VISITS FIJI MINISTER FOR YOUTH AND SPORTS

The Minister for Youth and Sports Hon.Jese Saukuru received a courtesy call from the New Zealand High Commissioner to Fiji Her Excellency Ms. Charlotte Darlow at his office in Suva yesterday (25.07.23).
High Commissioner Ms.Darlow was accompanied by her Deputy High Commissioner H.E Mr. Alex Shahryar-Davies and Senior Health Adviser Mr. Josefa Tabua who met with Hon.Saukuru. The visitation strengthened bilateral ties between New Zealand and Fiji in the areas of Youth and Sports development.
Hon.Saukuru, who was joined by his Permanent Secretary Mr.Rovereto Nayacalevu and Director Mr. Philip Hereniko, briefed the High Commissioner on the programmes that are currently implemented by the Ministry. He also spoke on prevalent issues affecting youth and measures that the Government is taking.
High Commissioner Ms.Darlow said that New Zealand shared similar challenges to Fiji with Non-Communicable Diseases posing as a health threat and combating the challenges with the promotion of sports among young people.
Permanent Secretary Mr.Nayacalevu also briefed the New Zealand delegation on how Fiji was reaching new strides in Sports Development with the inclusion of women in sports.
