MINISTER SAUKURU LAUDS LAUTOKA RUGBY FESTIVAL

Rugby is not just a game; it is a sport that teaches us valuable lessons both on and off the field.
This was highlighted by the Minister for Youth and Sports Hon.Jese Saukuru who graced the Lautoka Primary School Rugby Festival with his presence on Saturday (22/07/23).
“It instills in us the values of teamwork, sportsmanship, and resilience. It teaches us to work together towards a common goal, to support and encourage one another, and to celebrate each other's successes,” Hon.Saukuru said.
This eagerly awaited event which was held at the Lautoka Central primary School, aimed to promote Fair play in sports and foster a spirit of healthy competition among young rugby enthusiasts.
Following the opening ceremony, the festival kicked off with a series of exciting rugby matches, showcasing the skills and dedication of the participating teams. The festival format emphasized inclusivity, providing opportunities for all young athletes to showcase their abilities and enjoy the thrill of rugby.
Minister Saukuru expressed his admiration and respect, saying that they have trained hard, honed their skills, and overcome challenges.
“Remember that success is not solely measured by the score line, but by the effort you put in, the lessons you learn, and the friendships you forge along the way.”
“To the coaches, we extend our gratitude for your dedication and guidance. You have not only taught the skills of the game but also imparted important life lessons. Your commitment to the development and well-being of these young athletes is truly commendable,” Hon. Saukuru Said.
"I am delighted to witness the Lautoka Primary School Rugby Festival and witness the enthusiasm and talent displayed by the young athletes," said Hon.Saukuru. "Sports provide a platform for holistic growth, instill values of teamwork and fair play, and contribute to the overall well-being of our youth. Through initiatives like this rugby festival, we aim to encourage more young individuals to actively participate in sports and nurture their passion."
“To all the participants, I say this: Play with passion, play with heart, and play with a spirit that represents the very best of rugby. Win or lose, hold your heads high, knowing that you have given your all and have become better individuals through this experience,” he said.
