The Ministry of Youth and Sports, in collaboration with representatives

The Ministry of Youth and Sports, in collaboration with representatives from the Eastern Division and KMU department, launched a campaign to raise awareness about the Duke of Edinburgh International Awards (DEIA) Programme in Levuka today. The programme was introduced to two prominent schools in the area, Levuka Public and Delana High School, with a focus on the vision and mission of the DEIA program.
The Duke of Edinburgh International Awards Programme is a prestigious global initiative aimed at empowering and equipping young people with essential life skills while encouraging them to make a positive impact in their communities. The awards offer three levels of participation - Bronze, Silver, and Gold - each requiring participants to complete activities in four key areas: service, skills, physical recreation, and adventurous journeys.
During the awareness campaign, the Ministry of Youth and Sports provided the schools with brochures, mini booklets, posters, and four different registration forms for DEIA. These materials will enable students to gain a better understanding of the program and encourage them to participate in the various levels of the award scheme.
In addition to the DEIA awareness campaign, the Ministry of Youth and Sports also partnered with the Vatukalo Youth Club in Ovalau to undertake a Coastal Care Program. As part of this initiative, 268 mangrove plants were planted by the participants. This effort not only serves as an environmental conservation measure but also aligns with the DEIA's commitment to community service and sustainable development.
The Ministry of Youth and Sports believes that the Duke of Edinburgh International Awards Programme offers a valuable opportunity for young people in Levuka to grow, develop, and contribute positively to their community. By raising awareness about the program and its benefits, the Ministry hopes to inspire more students from Levuka Public and Delana High School to participate in this transformative experience.
Ministry of Youth and Sports would like to extend their gratitude to the Eastern and KMU department, Levuka Public, Delana High School, and the Vatukalo Youth Club for their cooperation and support in making this initiative a success.
