Good governance in sports is a foundation for building sports excellence in the country.

This was highlighted by the Minister for Youth and Sports Hon.Jese Saukuru while officially closing the Inaugural Melanesian Futsal Cup 2023 held opening the Burger King Bula Business at the Vodafone Arena Suva (16:04:23)

Hon. Saukuru highlighted the importance of staying away from performance enhancing substances in Sports.

"Your Government through the Ministry of Youth and Sports, promotes values and social cohesion through national sports,"he said.

"Sports tournaments help a healthy, vibrant and physical active nation and promote health and wellness through partnership – based programmes."

The Minister of Youth and Sports said that Government regards Sports as a multi tool; it is a career; it keeps you fit; it brings us teamwork; discipline; integrity; leadership; will to win; creates a healthy nation; and keeps one away from Non Communicable Diseases.

Hon. Saukuru encouraged all the participants to behave in a way which brings pride to Fiji Futsal, urging them to be humble in both victory and defeat.
