The Minister for Youth and Sports Hon. Jese Saukuru officially closed the Mobile Skills training on Sexual Reproductive Health and Rights (SRHR) and First Aid in Lautoka today (08.03.23).
Hon. Saukuru said that the programme was an opportunity for the trainees to gather and explore the topics of human rights, sexuality and gender, reproduction, healthy relationships, and mental health
care so that they may carry these lessons throughout their lives and in every endeavor they undertake.
“While you have explored those topics, the First Aid and Cardiopulmonary resuscitation training you have undergone is a knowledge that is also an invaluable tool for both you as an individual and for your community. It enables you to assist persons
who become injured in the event of an accident or emergency situation until help arrives,”Hon.Saukuru said.
He further said that delivering such training is the government's commitment towards society to ensure that we have a knowledgeable community capable of handling situations during emergencies.
“In such cases the government is the first responder. It is also the government's responsibility towards all Fijian in ensuring safety and coherence in times of disaster.”
He also encouraged the youth participants to be advocates of the SRHR and First Aid training, saying that the training is valuable for volunteering during Natural Disasters in their respective communities.
