WE NEED TO FIND CONCRETE SOLUTIONS FOR YOUTH ISSUES; MINISTER BALA

SUVA, November 26-Korea has helped establish Saemaul Geumgo (SMG) in Fiji by offering management support of its financial systems as well as business models.

The Assistant Minister for Youth and Sports Hon.Alipate Nagata said that developing countries in the Pacific Islands like Fiji owe a great debt of gratitude to the Republic of Korea for their willingness to share the knowledge of alleviating poverty and fostering development from the rural setting onwards.

While officiating at the closing of the virtual SMG workshop, Hon.Nagata said,” We need to find concrete solutions to relevant youth issues for the prospect of our future leaders, in particular taking into consideration the global changes and the environment of the 21st century.”

He added that it sets the platform for Fiji’s own development agenda as we try our utmost best to address social and economic issues as we work to achieve greater food security and counteract the inevitable rural-urban drift.

The five-day workshop was cofacilitated by the Ministry of Youth and Sports and the Korean Federation of Community Credit Cooperatives.

Virtually present at the event was the Executive Director of the Korean Federation of Community Credit Cooperatives Mr. Park Do Hyung.
