The Ministry of Youth and Sports will be providing theoretical and practical training required for weights to the communities of Lomainsau village in Tailevu.

This comes after the Minister for Youth and Sports Hon. Parveen Bala handed over gym equipment last week to the youths and rugby team of Lomainasau village.

Minister Bala, in handing over the equipment, said weights is a highly technical activity which requires theoretical and practical training which would be made available by the ministry.
“We continue to work with Weightlifting Fiji to ensure that you will have the correct technique in place and so to avoid injury.”
He said the new equipment would better enable the community to train safely while participating actively and maintain a healthy lifestyle.
He highlighted exercise was a key part of a healthy lifestyle, adding that one of the best and most fun ways to do that is through sports and recreational activities.
“One of the key priorities of the Fijian Government is building a healthier Fiji. While we are making the necessary investments in improving the quality of and access to healthcare, we also are doing what we can to get Fijians moving.”
The Minister assured the community if any additional assistance was required, the ministry would support.
“Finally to the young people of Lomainasau and Tailevu I say: Dedicate yourselves to keeping fit. Use this equipment well and look after it.”
