Assistant Minister for Youth and Sports Honourable Alipate Nagata today encouraged youths of Jittu Settlement to believe in themselves if they are to be successful in life.
Speaking to the youth during the closing of the Urban Multi Skill training Hon. Nagata told the youths that self-belief is the foundation of success and anything can be achieved if they do.
“Having strong self confidence can help you manage your fears, tackle life's challenges with more certainty and maintain a positive mental attitude,” he said. “The training you were part of this past week will in most part increase your confidence in yourselves or in a more simple term increase your self-belief.”
The Urban Mobile Skills training was facilitated with trainers from Service pro International Tourism & Hospitality Institute who conducted two different trainings on “Customer Service Courses & Restaurant Service” and attended by thirty youth from the Suva informal settlement.
“This training which is known as the Urban Multi Skill Training primarily focus on skills development to socially and economically empower young people so that they can productively utilize their skills as a source of sustainable livelihood opportunity and also to establish income Generating Projects as Small and Micro- Enterprise,” Hon. Nagata said.
“It coincides with our Youth Capacity Building Program which the Ministry utilise to empower, capacitate and enhance youth’s knowledge on the socio – economic development and providing various technical skills and training offered as part of the youth development program,” he further said.
Hon. Nagata further said that government remains committed to an inclusive policy and is glad that headways are being made into various settlements and communities.
“I am glad that under this Government’s leadership, the Ministry is making headways into our communities and engaging youths through training and sustainable projects to ensure a stable future,” said the Minister.
“As a Government we remain committed to our policy of inclusiveness for all Fijian and no one will be left out.”
Commending the training Gau lad Jacob Hoyte said that the training has been God sent and will open opportunities for youths especially in informal settlements.
“Right now I am unemployed and carrying out evangelical duties and this training has instilled in me a drive to go out there and find employment in the hospitality industry,” Mr Hoyt said.
“It is something every community should receive as such skills can be utilised during our own family functions and at home. I therefore thank the Ministry of Youth and Sports for training and I am sure that most of us can now find jobs out there.”
