Minister for Youth and Sports, Honourable Laisenia Tuitubou, will embark on a 6 day tour of the Eastern Division departing Suva tonight.

The Hon Minister will visit Batiki, Nairai and Gau Island in the Lomaviti Group before heading to Vanuavatu, Vatoa and Lakeba Island in the Lau Group.

During this visit, Honourable Tuitubou will hold discussions with youth groups in the respective islands and will also inspect the works being carried out at the new sporting complex in Sawaieke in Gau.

In Vanuavatu, the entourage will be guests in the closing of an ‘Empowerment Training’ for the island youths where the Honourable Minister will close the workshop and continue on to the remaining two islands in southern Lau.

A highlight of this trip is the awarding of the Duke of Edinburgh’s International Award Bronze certificates to 10 students of Ratu Finau Secondary School in Lakeba, Lau.

Lakeba is the first island in the Eastern Division maritime islands to achieve this internationally recognized Award.

Representatives from various Government agencies will accompany the Minister on this tour and will follow up on services for the communities.
