Graduates encouraged to pursue their dreams

Suva, 28 November - It was a proud moment for 28 trainees graduating from the Ministry of Youth and Sports’ Youth Training Centre in Valelevu, yesterday.24
While officiating at the program, the Assistant Minister for Youth and Sport, Honourable Iliesa Delana, commended the graduates for their dedication in completing the program.
“Your dedication and commitment have truly paid off and I hope that all of you will continue to support this wonderful program for many years to come,” he said.
“Through our Non-Formal Education training, we are committed in providing equal opportunities to youths who may have dropped out of the formal educational setting and are looking at ways to create and sustain their livelihoods.”
The Assistant Minister further encouraged the youths to strive for excellence and continue persevering to find permanent employment.
“Our graduates have been able to find permanent employment in the Republic of Fiji Military Forces Band, the Fiji Police Force Band, in the Fiji Corrections Services, Secondary Schools as Physical Education, Art and Craft and Music teachers, in the British army and in hotels and other tourist destinations around the country,” the Assistant Minister said.
“This in itself is the true testament to the commitment made by the Ministry to propel the youths in Fiji forward. Our main focus has always been to provide Fijian youths with fair and equal employment and training opportunities.”
The best overall trainee, Mosese Vutikani, was delighted with his achievement and sincerely thanked the Ministry for providing alternative avenues for underprivileged youths.
“I am very happy to have completed the program and also receive the best overall trainee award,” he said.
“I would sincerely like to thank the Ministry of Youth and Sports for providing such programs to disadvantaged youths. This allows us with a second opportunity to further our careers and live a sustainable life.”
