Minister commends Youths for Integrity Network

 

Suva, January 12 – The Minister for Youth and Sports Hon. Laisenia Tuitubou today praised the empowerment activities being conducted for young people in the country by a local non-governmental youth organisation.

While opening the Training of Trainers Capacity Leadership Workshop which was organised by the “Youths For Integrity Network” in Dokanaisuva Settlement on the outskirts of Tacirua, the Hon. Minister recognised their efforts as it complimented the ministry’s programmes.

“I thank the “Youths For Integrity National Network” for taking the initiative to run these series of workshops. 

“The Ministry of Youth and Sports is committed to delivering quality services based on the seven elements of success that are depicted in the seven stars of our logo and I am pleased to note that the “Youths For Integrity Network” has adopted 2 elements from the logo namely Integrity and Positive Attitude as the focal point of programs,” said the Hon. Tuitubou.

“It supports the democratic participation of young people in the wise personal decisions they make and also the decisions made in their homes, social groups and nation,” he added.

Minister Tuitubou said that with the workshop underscoring leadership and democratic decision making skills, it would equip youths with the right mindset.

“Your training workshop covers leadership and democratic decision making skills as 2 of its goals. These are areas that my Ministry engages with through the National Youth Parliament, the Duke of Edinburgh International Award Program and other capacity building programs undertaken throughout the nation,” said the Youth Minister.

“One of the aims of workshop such as this is that young people will be good role models showing strong moral values in all facets of their lives,” he stated.

The 2-day Capacity Leadership Workshop is being attended by youths from the Central Division and from as far as the Western Division.
